BREAKOUT TELEVISION DEBUT AT THE MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS

June 2014 (TORONTO, ON) – Calgary native Kiesza announces the release of her dance-ready debut EP Hideaway via Island Records/4th and B'way/Lokal Legend/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, at digital retailers on July 7 and physical retailers on July 15. Her hit single "Hideaway" has reached #1 on iTunes charts in 14 countries and #1 on the Canadian Shazam chart.

Kiesza recently made her worldwide TV debut with a performance of “Hideaway” at the Much Music Video Awards. She will bring her unique performance style to The Late Show With David Letterman on July 9. Globetrotting like never before, Kiesza has also been busy on the festival circuit with her deep house cuts and shimmering soulful melodies. The UK’s Evening Standard said of her recent performance in London, "The Canadian stepped back into another musical era that felt fresh and vital."

Kiesza's one-take video for the first single, "Hideaway", celebrates the timelessness of early house music and has garnered over 34 million viewers to date.

While Kiesza's "decidedly hands-in-the-air optimistic dance vibe" (FADER) is fresh to most, Kiesza has been at it since she was 17; dancing, song-writing, playing various instruments and attending Berklee School of Music on full scholarship. Although, her path is not the norm, as she's gone from a code breaker in Royal Canadian Navy (who attempted to recruit the sharp-shot as a sniper) to the face of FENDI's Colour Block sunglasses. Watch her cast shade here.

""Hideaway" carries a distinctly shiny electro-pop feel-but the rhythm's ripped straight from the head-whipping halls of 1990s dance, a body-moving propulsion that perfectly fits Kiesza's strangulated vocal bleats."- Pitchfork

"Song of the summer." - Buzzfeed

"The song's thick bass and cracking drum machine drives the beat forward."- Rolling Stone

"Soulful, stripped-back house with some serious vocal range"- mixmag

"Kiesza is a fascinating pop polymath whose music is as colourful, diverse and surprising as the twists and turns that led her where she is today.- MTV
