Band Return To Canada Later This Summer For Six Canadian Dates

  (TORONTO – 17 June, 2015) – Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, is thrilled to announce that Icelandic folk-rock powerhouse Of Monsters and Men has for the first time debuted at #1 with their sophomore album, ‘Beneath The Skin’. This week, Canadian fans flocked to online and retail stores to land Of Monster’s and Men their first #1 album debut in the world. Canada’s love affair with the band began with the release of their first album, ‘My Head Is An Animal” (2012) when it delivered their first ever international platinum award. Since then, the album has surpassed the double platinum sales mark. “We are incredibly honoured to have a #1 album in Canada,” said Of Monsters and Men. “Our fans are amazing and we are so happy we have many Canadian stops on our tour this year. Thank you and see you soon!!” The group spent last year and a half working on ‘Beneath The Skin’ with co-producer Rich Costey [Muse, Death Cab for Cutie, Foster The People, Interpol] between studios in Iceland and Los Angeles. The album’s anthemic first single, “Crystals” currently sits at #2 on the Canadian Alternative Radio chart. Just last month, the band kicked-off their 2015 world tour in Toronto with a sold out show at historic Massey Hall and will return for six more Canadian dates this summer headlining major festivals including Osheaga (Montreal July 31), Squamish Fest (Squamish August 8) and TURF (Toronto September 18). They quickly became a phenomenon in 2011 with the triple-platinum “Little Talks” and their chart-topping debut, My Head Is An Animal, which has since moved 2 million copies worldwide. Since then, the group have delivered rapturous performances at festivals such as  Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Newport Folk Festival, Osheaga, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Pukkelpop, and Splendour in the Grass as well as at countless sold out headline shows the world over. They have charmed TV audiences with appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (twice), Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Graham Norton Show, and Saturday Night Live.
