Wax Records (07 May 2012 - Toronto, ON) – Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading Music Company announced today that they have entered into an exclusive partnership with Wax Records, the independent, full-service, Canadian music company whose focus is on finding, developing, and promoting career artists. The deal was announced today by UMC’s President and CEO, Randy Lennox and Wax Records’ COO, Ron Morse. Commented Lennox: “Ron, Jamie Appleby and the entire Wax Records team have in short order become one of Canada’s leading independent music companies and it is a pleasure to now be in partnership together. We look forward to breaking new artists together for many years to come.” Wax Records was founded in 2009 and is the home to an incredibly diverse stable of a Canadian artists including Juno Awards nominee and multiplatinum pop singer/songwriter Alyssa Reid; critically acclaimed indie-rock band, Wildlife; singer/songwriter , Jesse Labelle; energetic pop singer and dancer, Adriiana; alternative rock band, Elias; experimental rock band, Theset, and recent signings, pop country duo Autumn Hill and Toronto rap rockers, Nixon. Originally formed in 2006 as the Canadian branch of Windup Records, and representing such top tier acts as Evanescence, Seether, and Finger 11, the new team built their reputations together with high profile marketing strategies, and remarkable Canadian success. While the team prospered with their larger American projects, they had long set their sights on creating their own Canadian music company, and in 2009 they set their plan in motion.
