“I’m no longer serious. I’m done with the sob stories and the tales. New chapter, new life, new album, new single, this is a completely new Demi. There’s definitely a lot of provocative songs on the album.”
Demi kickstarted her new era with the release of (everyone’s summer song) “Cool For The Summer,” her bad-ass “Confident” music video and the very deep and emotional track “Stone Cold.” Today, the full album, Confident, is available for everyone to indulge in.
Demi’s confidence growth is definitely apparent in this album! You can see it sky rocket with one listen; quickly noticing the edgy lyrics and genre crosses.
“The thing with my music, I’ve spent so long just kind of people pleasing, making everybody happy with being the best role model I can be. At the end of the day, yes, I’m outspoken about the things I believe in: mental health, advocacy work, I have my own charity. I have all these things that make me a role model. But at the same time, none of these things are representing the badass that I am.”
Not only does Demi’s fifth album feature female rappers Sirah and Iggy Azalea, it also mixes elements of pop with rock and soul. After telling MTV she’s been “able to hit notes on this album that [she’s] never hit before,” we were expecting to simply be impressed; but after listening to the album track-by-track, we are beyond BLOWN AWAY with her vocal range.
Max Martin, Ali Payami, Ilya Salmanzadeh, Steve Mac and Ryan Tedder are some of the many names that helped produce Confident. Demi also states a “huge goal” of hers with this album is to win a Grammy, hoping track “Stone Cold” will get her there. We wish you all of the luck with this, Demi xx
