“Let’s talk about “Here” – l don’t think there’s ever been a hit song about a party being lame” Taylor Swift geniusly points out. The two share a chuckle, and Alessia Cara immediately agrees, “it’s funny because I hear now it gets played at parties.”
Alessia first caught Taylor’s attention (and ear) in July with her powerful BBCRadio1 acoustic cover of “Bad Blood” – Taylor was so blown away that she expressed her excitement in a Twitter praise:
@taylorswift13 HOLD ON. WAIT. WAIT. I’m just gonna go to sleep and reawaken to make sure this is real life hold ON
— ac (@alessiacara) July 8, 2015
Little did Alessia know this was only the very beginning of Taylor Swift ‘pinch me’ moments; Taylor then included Alessia’s track “I’m Yours” in a handwritten playlist titled “New Songs That Will Make Your Life More Awesome (I Promise).” The big bang for Alessia came just under a month ago, when Taylor invited Alessia on stage during her 1989 World Tour to perform hit single “Here.”
Shortly after joining Taylor on stage, Alessia admits returning backstage after the emotional experience crying tears of joy. When Taylor wrapped up her show, she sat down with Alessia Cara to talk about “Here,” Four Pink Walls, and her debut album Know-It-All. Alessia also shows pride to her Italian and Canadian roots.
