Meet 2016 Brits Critics Choice Award-Winner: Jack Garratt

Posted on November 30, 2015

Throughout the years, it seems one of the most certain predictors of commercial success in the music industry has been winning the Brits Critics’ Choice Award. It is arguable one of the most influential awards, almost guaranteeing success for any upcoming British acts, as it did for Florence + The MachineEllie Goulding, Sam Smith and James Bay, to name a few. This year’s chosen recipient is none other than the very talented 24-year-old singer, songwriter and producer, Jack Garratt. //

“I am so humbled to have received this year’s Brits critics’ choice award,” says Garratt. “To have been nominated alongside Frances and Izzy Bizu was already a huge honour and a testament to the caliber of new UK music. To have been given this award is truly mind-blowing, considering I am one name in a hugely exciting time for music in this country. Thank you to everyone who voted, it means so much to me.”

Not only did he just win this hugely influential award, Jack has  just been nominated by BBC‘s “Sound of 2016” poll, which aims at showcasing “the most exciting and innovative rising stars.” Similarly, this list is an additional indicator of big things to come for artists -simply peek at the list of past winners; almost all of them went on to become mega-stars: Sam Smith, Years & Years and Ellie Goulding.
