Canada is HOW old? Kardinal Offishall Has The Answer!

Posted on March 15, 2016

2017 marks Canada’s 150th Birthday and you bet that there’s a celebration plan in place! The Government of Canada is going big & funding a huge musical celebration in the city’s capital. Sounds like our cup of tea 🙂 The themes that will be highlighted during the celebration are: diversity and inclusion, reconciliation from nation to nation with indigenous people, youth, and environment. These themes embody the image of Canada perfectly. We can’t wait to see the final product, which is sure to be a spectacular event! We also want to take this time to congratulate Kardinal Offishall, who has been named as an official ambassador for Canada 150!

Part 1. R.E.P. Today I had the honour of co-hosting the official federal announcement for the country's celebration of our 150th birthday! In this picture is my co-host Seema from #danielspectrumregentpark and @melaniejoly (middle), the Minister of Canadian Heritage. During the press conference, it was announced that I was named an official ambassador for Canada's sesquicentennial celebration! I'm in good company-they chose a Nobel prize winner, the founder of RIM technologies and an astronaut also (just to name a few). It's funny because media and other outlets have been calling me "the Canadian Hip-Hop ambassador" for years…and I hate that moniker. Lol (who came up with that?). But to be an actual official ambassador by request of Minister Joly and the good folks she works with is an amazing feeling. Me and Seema had mad fun and made the press conference full of vibes and I thought it was dope to even have @melaniejoly participate with the Toronto Symphonic Orchestra and the kids from Regent Park and hear their rendition of "Know Yourself" by Drake. This morning was another crazy addition to my career as a RAPPER and how you can represent for hip-hop and your country in ways you may not have even thought possible. Kardinal took to Instagram to announce the great 2017 news with our Universal Music Canada President & CEO: Jeffrey Remedios. Where can we find one of these jerseys??? Obsessed.
