UMUSIC X WAYHOME: Day 3

Posted on July 24, 2016

As they say, all good things come to an end. Who’s they? We don’t know, but they are on to something! As sad as we are to admit it, Day 3 of Wayhome has come to a close, which means the 2016 festival is now a memory. An amazing memory we must note 🙂

What did we get up to on Wayhome day three? Find out below:

We were so excited to get into the festival this AM, that we snuck in a tad early…(our little secret 😉 ) And we have to admit, as cool as it was to be on the grounds before the mass crowds flooded in, it was also a little creepy! We won’t be back anywhere near October 31st!

Oh Wonder just might be the cutest act to hit Wayhome! The UK couple kicked off our Sunday with an incredible set with their dream pop front-and-centre. Playing hits like “Lose It” and “Without You”, we were instantly captivated from the moment they landed on the main stage. Thank you for making the trek across the pond!

Not familiar with Oh Wonder? Whether you’ve heard about them for the first time today, or have been a fan for ages–you have to watch this amazing UMUSIC 5 video, where we learned 5 things about the english duo:

Our “Electric Love” for BØRNS was at full wattage ⚡ during his Wayhome set. Not only did he walk out in a killer outfit, including a leather jacket that was later removed to reveal an incredible crop top, but the long-haired, California based artist pulled out some gems for this festival crowd. Yes, we are talking about tracks such as “Past Lives” and “American Money,” off his latest album Dopamine; but BØRNS also covered Arcade Fire ANNNND David Bowie. Excuse me while we try to pull ourselves together after that!

Before BØRNS stepped foot on stage, we took a little trip into the woods to discuss some festival dos and don’ts. Going to see him at Osheaga next weekend? Allow us to extend our learnings to you:

Robert DeLong, you are an electronic behemoth! The wild DJ takes things like Wii Remotes and video game joysticks and turns them into instruments. It’s a one-of-a-kind show where Robert bounces from live drumming to knob-twisting to crushing out his vocals. “Completely blown away” is an understatement.

We had a chance to sit down with DeLong and get five quick facts, including his first concert and his Canadian love starting early! Watch below:

Closing day three–well, all of Wayhome!–were the Las Vegas boys we hold near and dear to our heart, The Killers. It’s incredible to think about the run they’ve had since releasing debut album Hot Fuss twelve years ago, but the band did a fantastic job of condensing that story into an hour-and-a-half set.

Opening with the explosive “Mr. Brightside”, we were off to the races right from the get go. Every fan knew every word to songs like “When You Were Young” and “Somebody Told Me”, as seen below:

To see the connection the band has with the bands was powerful–it truly was a spectacular close to a perfect weekend! Sunny skies, friendly faces, and best of all… magical music. From the performers to the smiling staff to every passing face in the crowd, we thank you for one of the most unforgettable weekends of our lives. We’ll see you at Wayhome 2017!
