Shawn Mendes visits Ellen to show off his ping pong skills, talk about touring, and explain his new tattoo.
After playing a round of Paddle Battle against Ellen backstage, turns out he could learn a thing or two from the talk-show queen herself.

He may have lost a game, but he is doing anything but losing when it comes to his music career. Ellen praises Shawn for selling out Madison Square Garden in less than 5 minutes! With the release of his album Illuminate, a new music video for “Mercy“, and on-going Illuminate Tour, it’s certainly a busy time of year for young Mendes.
Shawn tells Ellen that he’s always dreamed of playing the guitar on stage, and can’t believe how quickly this dream became a reality.
Speaking of guitars, Shawn then shows off his first tattoo:
He explains the tattoo of a guitar, is composed of sound waves. Each wave represents the connection between his mom, dad, and sister. The top of the guitar is designed to look like the CN Tower and it’s skyline, which represents his hometown (Toronto). SO SWEET!
The interview reminds us that despite the fame, Shawn is still the same playful, sweet, and down-to-earth young man who touched our hearts in 6 seconds:
