We feel like we’ve been waiting for this moment forever, and it has finally arrived! Last night at midnight, Lady Gaga gave the world Joanne – her fifth studio album dedicated to her late Aunt. To say the least, it’s the most wonderful collection of tracks that showcase Gaga’s vocal abilities as well as her talent for songwriting.
Leading up to the release, Queen Gaga partnered with Bud Light to put on a Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour. The premise was to perform for a smaller group of people in dive bars around the US that had an influence on Gaga’s musical career. This was a much more intimate environment for both Gaga and her fans. In a Rolling Stone interview, Gaga was quoted saying,
“I definitely have a more deep relationship with my fans now than I did back then, because I’ve known them for years. Even though I don’t know them all personally, I could feel that we’ve grown up together, you know?”
The 3-date Dive Bar Tour started in Nashville where Gaga performed four songs off the new album. You can watch the whole performance here. Gaga then continued her press tour of the album, which included an interview with The New York Times.
“It’s an endless proving of myself, that I really am a musician, that I have something to offer in the room. That women can be musicians, women can be rock stars, women can be more than an objectified idea of a pop star.”
Her second stop on the Dive Bar Tour took place on October 20th – the night before the album release – in New York City. She performed a total of six songs in NYC including her two most recent songs “Million Reasons” and “A-YO.” You can watch the entire NYC performance below!
It was definitely an eventful night. Here in Toronto, Umusic celebrated the release by putting on a Secret Location #GoGaga Listening Party which streamed Gaga’s performance.
