Inspired by reality TV and produced by Disney, Sing is the ultimate music lovers animated film.
When a theater is in the midst of being shut down, a singing competition arises. The plot surrounds the lives of aspiring singers from all walks of life, but who share a passion for singing. While the film takes place in the animal world, you can only imagine what kind of hilarious antics these characters will get up to. Just when you thought cartoons were for kids, think again. Here are 5 reasons why we can’t wait to see sing:
1. Tori Kelly
That’s a reason in itself! Tori Kelly plays a leading lady Meena, the teenage elephant with a powerful voice but full of stage fright. She may be acting, but there’s nothing pretenious about her voice. Tori Kelly’s vocals chords are out of this world.
2. Incredible Cast
When actors can also sing, it’s a beautiful thing. A few cast members include:
- Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, the optimistic koala.
- Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, the multitalented mom.
- Seth MacFarlane as Mike, the classic crooner.
- Scarlett Johansson as Ash, the punk-rock porcupine.
- John C. Reilly as Eddie Noodleman, the doubtful sheep, and Buster’s partner.
Plus, Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah, Jennifer Hudson, and tons more!

3. The Soundtrack
ICYMI: Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder recently collaborated for their new single “Faith“. And if you’re wondering what spurred this unprecedented duo, it was the soundtrack to this very film!
hello, tonight was surreal. i sang w stevie wonder. thank you @NBCTheVoice for having me & @singmovie for this incredible experience. #Faith

And of course, when singers can act, it’s also a beautiful thing. So it’s no wonder Tori Kelly is also featured on the soundtrack:

4. Features More than 85 Classic Songs From Famous Artists
It’s a movie about auditioning for a musical, so of course it features tons of well-know covers that we love. From Lady Gaga to Sir Mix A Lot to Seal, how many of the 85 tunes will you recognize?!
5. It’s Disney
If you liked Zootopia, or Despicable Me, you’ll love what Sing has in store. Illumination (Disney) has created all of these beloved animated films, but this time, Sing offers something they haven’t done before: A celebrity cast animated musical!
