5 Reasons We’re Obsessed With Logic’s 1-800-273-8255

Posted on May 29, 2017

Rapper, Logic has been killing the game with his latest release, 1-800-273-8255. Here are five reasons we have had this track playing over and over again!

1. Alessia Cara’s Feature

Yes, yes, you read that correctly! Alt R&B sensation Alessia Cara is featured on Logic’s track and we could not be more excited. Her voice complements his perfectly and adds an entire dimension to the track. WE LOVEEEE!!

2. The Song’s Title = Suicide Prevention Lifeline Phone Number

1-800-273-8255 … although those numbers may seem random at first, if you dial them, you’ll find out that you’re really calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. We absolutely love that Logic is using his platform to spread awareness about a serious issue and is trying to help those struggling with an issue that so many suffer from.

3. The Powerful Lyrics

Though the phone number is not explicitly mentioned anywhere in the song, Logic uses quite powerful lyrics, starting the track by saying at first that he “does not want to be alive” and that he just “want[s] to die.” He continues to explain why he feels that way. As the song progresses and eventually ends though, Logic changes to saying he “finally want[s] to be alive” and that he doesn’t “wanna die”, after having sought help.

4. Logic’s Vocals

Logic has truly never sounded better than he does on this track – from the rap sections to those he sings out, his voice sounds so angelic and smooth! This just makes it that much easier to have his track on repeat 24/7.

5. The Inspiration Behind The Song

Logic has taken to social media more than once to explain that the reason he wrote this track to begin with, was because of his fans.  He took to Instagram to post the compilation video below and captioned:

“Over the years so many of you guys have told me that my music has helped you through so many tough times. Many of you have told me its even saved your life. I’m beyond humbled. But I felt I haven’t done enough. I felt compelled to make a song that could actually help you. I made this song for all of you who are in a dark place and can’t seem to find the light.”
