In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Kendrick Lamar sat down with writer, Brian Hiatt, and provided readers with an extremely candid interview. He covers the magazine.
In the interview, he talks everything from his latest release, DAMN., to his own personal maturity. The conversation becomes a little bit lighter when Kendrick is asked if he knew about the beef that was going on between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry when he did the remix on Taylor’s “Bad Blood”. To that, he responds, laughing:
“No, I wasn’t aware of that, bro. No! On the record, no. Which makes it even more funny now, for sure. That’s far beyond my concern. I have to stay away from that, for sure. That’s some real beef.”
Talk about being in the middle of something without even knowing 😂. They continue talking, when interviewer Brian mentions how Kendrick sounded like Jay-Z at some parts on his first mixtape released at the age of 16. To that, Kendrick responds with:
“Oh, yeah. That was my guy. Still is. I’m still a fan. That was just a page I took out of his book, to be able to carry a lyric through conversation and make it feel like I’m sitting right here talking to you”.
