Do You Know What “Despacito” Really Means?

Posted on August 10, 2017

We’ve been singing the lyrics to over and over and over again. However, if you don’t speak Spanish, do you know what you’re singing? We decided to find out & take on the challenge of translating the song that everyone and their mother are talking about…

“Despacito” – Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber

Let’s start with the title (and the word that appears most frequently throughout the track): despacito. According to our sources, it translates to slowly…okay okay…slowly dancing? Slowly moving? Let’s continue to find the context!

The first line of the chorus translates to I want to breathe your neck slowly…HMMMM okay… 😏

Then it continues… Let me tell you things in your ears ….MKAYYY…😏😏

More.. So that you remember when you’re not with me… YO. Someone seems to want this woman all to himself 😜

Shall we continue? The next lines translate to I want to strip you off with kisses slowly / Sign the walls of your labyrinth / And make your whole body a manuscript 💋💋💋 …this is gettin’ SPICY! 😱🔥

Anyone else sitting here like ⬇️ 🙈

To sum it all up: “Despacito” is about a guy who eyes a girl and wants to dance with her. He finally goes up to her and flirts with her, kisses her and then well…we’ll just leave it at that. 😜
