We woke up to a nice surprise this morning: the first round of Toronto International Film Festival 2017 movies being announced! 🙌 Among those announced? The Tragically Hip‘s documentary, Long Time Running. 👌 Though no official schedule has been announced just yet, we know that the documentary will premiere at TIFF and will have a gala surrounding it.
Long Time Running follows The Hip across their 15 date Man Machine Poem Canada-wide tour. The tour took place in the Summer of 2016, with a culminating date in Kingston, ON, which gathered fans from around the world.
During the one minute trailer, we already feel a part of these historic moments caught on film. The documentary will no doubt be chill inducing. Among the performance and behind the scenes clips, we hear Gord Downie say,
“It was just a dream. It was the best I’ve ever felt onstage. I wanted the shows to go on forever”.
With his announcement of battling cancer, which came a few months before the tour began, we see how The Hip stands strong together and that they really do, have each other’s backs.

We can’t wait to see the full documentary, directed by Canadian filmmakers Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier, and produced by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn.
Keep your eyes peeled here for more information. TIFF 2017 will be taking place from September 7th to 17th.
