Once a year, some of the biggest celebrities in the world flock to the streets of Toronto! What for? The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
While none of us want to obtain stalker status, we all do want the chance to grab a selfie with at least one of the big names! So prep your cute outfits for that new insta pic, and follow our TIFF guide, below.
The Airport
While it might sound obvious, it’s the exact location that celebrities will be touching down in the 6ix. Already spotted: Rachel McAdams!
King Street West
Between The TIFF Bell Lightbox and Princess of Wales Theatre to Brassaii and Cibo Wine Bar, King Street transforms into TIFF central. Most big premieres during the festival, have a red carpet. Yes, that does mean that if you get to the barricade early enough, you may catch your favourite celeb before they walk into the building. Hot tip: on September 8, 2017 Lady Gaga’s documentary, Five Foot Two premieres at Princess of Wales. And yes, she will be there!
Ryerson Campus
Whether you’re a student at the downtown university campus or not, this is a hot spot for a-listers during the festival. No, they’re not enrolling in classes! Ryerson’s theaters are actually used for many TIFF movie premieres. Hop on over to the quad and see if you can spot anyone! Hot tip: on Monday September 11, 2017, three movies premiere at Ryerson theatre, including:
- Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell)
- Mark Felt – The Man Who Brought Down the White House (Liam Neeson & Diane Lane)
- The Disaster Artist (James Franco, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen)
Yorkville
This swanky area is known to be filled with celebrities during TIFF. From The Hazelton Hotel and The Four Seasons Hotel to Kasa Moto and the SkyLounge Patio, this is the place to be. Whether you’re making reservations at one of the restaurants or joining the paparazzi outside hotels, it is more than likely that walking through Yorkville will strike some celeb sightings. Hot Tip: Don’t forget the Holt Renfrew either! You never know when a celeb will need to pop in to buy the perfect accessory for premiere night. The likes of Jenn Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have previously been spotted in the store during TIFF.

Fring’s
While we already mentioned King Street, we saved Fring’s for last. The Drake-associated restaurant is located at 455 King Street West, steps away from the TIFF action. Not only are musicians to sports players and more spotted here on the regular; but with TIFF right in it’s vicinity, we guarantee some big-names will be sitting down to enjoy the truffle inspired-TIFF menu.
