Watch Ellen DeGeneres scare Sam Smith TWICE in the span of 20 seconds.
The “Too Good At Goodbyes” singer starts off his appearance on Ellen by telling her that he lives in a haunted house. “I feel like I’m quite in touch with this stuff – I have a good relationship with them” he says. Sam Smith admits that he thinks there are ghosts everywhere; and he finds them friendly.
Much like the scare received by Niall Horan; Sam Smith’s scare was double the surprise! Ellen distracts Sam with conversation, while a ‘ghost’ appears beside him for scare number one. After Sam regains composure, he admits he thought someone would jump out of the crate. Just then, another person DID jump out of the crate for scare number two.

Next, Sam goes on to discuss his Oscar controversy and the hiatus from music. He chats to Ellen about the mishap with his Oscar speech, explaining that he had been enjoying a few drinks before winning the award, “I mucked up my speech and forgot to say ‘Best Actor’ and basically said I was the first gay person to ever win an Oscar.” he says.
After he and Ellen have a good laugh over the mistake, Sam goes on to talk about why he took a break from music. He believes the break is exactly what he needed to successfully write songs. “I needed to live a normal life because my music is about love – it’s important to take the time for your heart to have it” he says.
Now that Sam Smith has completed a brand new album, it’s only right that he has someone to celebrate it with, right Sam 😉. It’s confirmed! The “Too Good At Goodbyes” singer is no longer single. He is happily in a relationship.
