She’s taking her role as a judge very seriously.
Katy Perry sat down with People to discuss her new spot on the American Idol judging panel. As this will be her first season on the show, she revealed that she plans on being nothing but authentic.
The “Swish Swish” singer described her approach, saying, “My personality is that I’m a straight shooter — almost to a fault, I just value authenticity so much that it can sometimes get me into trouble, because I take this job really seriously.”

So what kind of talent is she looking for? Katy is looking for the next Kelly Clarkson.
She said, “I don’t want to walk away from American Idol and just have a season go by and we don’t have any Kelly Clarkson because that means we’re just filling space on television and I really truly want to be able to do this exercise and make someone’s dream come true.”
So there you go, Katy Perry isn’t all about the glitz and glam, she wants a genuine, down-to-earth, and talented individual to be take the title of American Idol. She believes that if it’s meant to be, it will be. If the person is talented, works hard and ends up at the top, then that’s the dream they were meant to live. Katy reveals that yes, it’s a little bit old fashioned, but that’s the way she believes it will work.
