BIG things to come from this Canadian duo
Locals Only Sound is taking the music world by storm, thanks to their tireless work ethic and inimitable sound.
The group, comprised of Curtis Smith and Gray Hawken, dabble in every step of the music-making process: from writing to recording, producing to performing, LOS see their projects through from beginning to end.
Not only do they make original music, but they work as a collective that other artists can turn to for production work, including Jojo’s “Mad Love” and Ryland James’ “Good To You.”
Both members come from artistic backgrounds: Curtis grew up around classic-rock and has fused these influences into his songwriting canon. Gray soaked up jazz music throughout his childhood thanks to his musical family, and also performed in choirs.
The two find common ground in their shared interests for modern beats and skateboard culture. It may sound like an impossible task, but Curtis and Gray are successfully able to fuse their combined influences into a sleek sound that’s all their own.
“The core of our vibe and style is from the alt-electronic, R&B world; because that’s the feel we’re living now. But it’s also taking in influences from rock and the singer/songwriter genres too,” said Smith.
Their current single “Billions” is out now. Listen to it below:
