The Launch: Season 2 Winners

The second season of CTV’s The Launch has come and gone, and five talented singers won the opportunity to record and release an original song. For those unfamiliar with The Launch, here is a quick synopsis:

In each stand-alone episode of THE LAUNCH, unsigned aspiring artists audition for the opportunity to learn, record, and perform their version of a new original song by a world famous songwriter/producer. The artists are mentored by a panel of internationally renowned music industry legends.

The second season of The Launch had big shoes to fill after the successful first season, which helped “launch” the career of several artists, including Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine. Thankfully, season 2 met those expectations – and even exceeded them.

Check out the winning artists and their new songs below: 

Episode 1

Winner: Cassiøpeia

Cassiøpeia is a singer, songwriter, and composer from B.C. Inspired by artists like Vance Joy, Norah Jones, George Ezra, and Nelly Furtado, her voice offers a fresh, innovative sound. At an early age, Cassiøpeia wrote with depth and meaning, channeling her creativity into music and lyrics. With her maturity comes the ability to perform, taking the audience on an emotional journey.

Celebrity Mentor: Ryan Tedder 

Song: “Better” featuring Boi-1da and Killy 

Episode 2

Winner: T. Thompson 

Growing up in a family full of performers, T. Thomason was raised on theatre and film sets. Growing up in Nova Scotia, T. released three albums by the age of 19, garnering support from television shows like DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION with music placements on the series and sharing bills with acts including Gord Downie, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Collective Soul.

Celebrity Mentor: Sarah McLachlan

Song: “Hope”

Episode 3

Winner: Saveria 

Born in Russell, Ont., Saveria started singing at the age of eight. Now based in London, Ont., she has already performed at fairs, festivals, charity events, radio stations, and on television. She takes influence from John Mayer who ignited the fire, inspiring her to play guitar and write songs.

Celebrity Mentor: Max Kerman 

Song: “Down to the Roots”

Episode 4

Winner: Olivia Lunny 

Olivia Lunny is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Winnipeg with a sound that fuses catchy pop melodies and alternative waves. Writing music since the age of twelve, it became Olivia’s way of journaling and an outlet to express her feelings. Her evolving sound harnesses a mellow vibe with velvety vocals and ambient guitar sounds, combined with elegant lyrics exploring universal topics such as heartbreak and navigating the uncertain waters of entering adulthood.

Celebrity Mentor: Jann Arden 

Song: “I Got You”

Episode 5

Winner: Maddie Storvold

Raised in Dubai, Maddie Storvold grew up traveling and playing music around the world, and is now a member of the Edmonton music community. Maddie’s poetic background and Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Western University account for her poignant lyricism. Maddie has spent her summers touring and playing festivals including the Edmonton Folk Fest, Canmore Folk Fest, and Tiny Lights.

Celebrity Mentor: Bryan Adams

Episode 6

Winner: Michelle Treacy 

Michelle Treacy is driven by a need to create empowering music and is not afraid to explore darker emotions. The Ottawa-native’s music is quirky, fearless, and raw. During Lady Gaga’s ArtRave Tour, Michelle joined the pop icon on stage where she performed for 10 minutes alongside Gaga in front of more than 20,000 people at the Bell Centre in Montréal.
