We’re officially 4 days away from EG4 and it’s safe to say that we’re charged up. In anticipation of Ellie Goulding’s forthcoming album, we’re sharing 4 things we’re expecting from Brightest Blue (pre-save here). Since it won’t be out until July 17, we’ve linked an awesome Ellie playlist here for you to enjoy in the meantime.
1. A GENRE-BENDING SOUND

Collaborating with serpentwithfeet (who performed at Ellie’s wedding <3), blackbear, Swae Lee, and the late Juice WRLD (whose album recently dropped) almost guarantees that we’re getting some hip hop or R&B influence on this album. Ellie’s also paired up with Lauv and Diplo who’ve both teetered between electropop, hip hop and R&B. Goulding has always had a distinctly unique sound and we’re expecting no less from EG4.
2. ALLURING VISUALS

We were blown away when the visuals for “Power” dropped a few weeks ago, and it was even more exciting to learn that Ellie shot the music video during quarantine. Based on the creativity displayed in that project, we’re anticipating some sultry, powerful, cutting edge music videos and photo shoots for a handful of tracks.
3. AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER

The two sided LP has 18 tracks and Ellie shared that one side will prioritize “vulnerability” while the other will showcase “confident, brave, and fearless” songs. Other notable themes in the project include past relationships and the exploration of womanhood. In the past, Ellie’s explored her vocal style and range and has also delivered ballads, dance bops and everything in between… and she’ll likely be bringing that to EG4 (prepare for a cacophony of feelings).
4. AN EPIC 2021 TOUR

Ellie’s stage presence is next level, and we knew she’d be back on tour as soon as possible. She confirmed our theory via Instagram when she recently announced the first leg of the Brightest Blue tour scheduled for Spring 2021. We’re unsure of the logistics while social distancing is in effect but Ellie shared that it’ll be intimate yet distanced. Could that mean tailgating or privacy pods? We’ll have to wait and see!
Have a great week and let us know your thoughts on Brightest Blues when it drops on Friday, July 17, 2020. In the meantime, follow Ellie on Instagram and Twitter, and be sure to follow @umusic to stay up to date with all things music!
