New Music Friday: Emily Reid, Swae Lee, BENEE and more!

Posted on November 06, 2020

Last week was pretty big release-wise, with heavy hitters like Ariana Grande and Sam Smith, and we’re still recovering from all of that! This week we have some familiar faces that were here not too long ago, for they already have new music out! And some people who could have come back earlier! Are you ready to discover them all?

Just two weeks after the release of “Stay Golden”, Emily Reid is back with yet another brand new single. The Canadian-born singer-songwriter, now living in the United States, continues delivering genuine songs that only she would be able to write while she keeps finding her own style and voice as an artists through her travels.

Swae Lee, Lil Mosey and Tyga have come together to create the theme song for the upcoming Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob movie, Sponge on the Run. This is a fun, light-hearted theme made by friends which is sure to delight both children and those not-so-children anymore who grew up with the show.

While we are still waiting for 2 Chainz’ upcoming album, new music is a treat we won’t refuse. Following up to “Money Maker”, which he dropped with help from Lil Wayne back in August, “Quarantine Thick” is his latest work, this time accompanied by Mulatto. SO HELP ME GOD (his 6th studio album) will be out November 13th!

It’s only been one week after BENEE released “Plain”, but it’s clear that New Zealand’s platinum sensation had more where that came from. This time without any collaborators on board, “Happen To Me” serves the same purpose as the last single: to get us ready for her imminent debut album drop. We are really excited!

The album includes 14 tracks and counts with help from some of the scene’s biggest names including Gunna, Young Thug and Lil Baby. This is NAV’s second LP of 2020 and at this rate, he might even come up with a third one before the end of the year!

A few weeks after “Holy” was originally released, marking the beginning of this brand new Justin Bieber era, we got to listen to “Lonely”. And knowing that we still haven’t recovered from the feels, Justin Bieber dropped the acoustic version of “Holy” – which just hits differently. If you liked the original and this new Bieber style, you cannot miss this new release.

Crown Lands – Feeling Good

Crown Lands join a very specific club today. They join the likes of Muse and Michael Bublé who covered this iconic song before the Canadian duo. “Feeling Good” appeared in Nina Simone’s 1965 album I Put a Spell on You. According to Crown Lands: “Nina is such a powerful and incredible woman, and the world needs her message now more than ever”. We’re convinced their tribute to her totally made the cut and will become one of our favourites!
