Like every year, we can’t have the MTV MVAs without having their European counterpart – the MTV EMAs. The EMAs award the achievements of artists all around the globe. The MTV EMAs were held this past weekend on November 8, 2020.
This year, the show has not been hosted in a single location but filmed in various. However, we know by now that this won’t prevent award shows from being extremely engaging and worth watching.
So, if you missed it, here’s a brief recap of what you should know about the 2020 MTV EMAs!
Highlights
Let’s cut to the chase. BTS won four awards including Best Song and Best Group. Lady Gaga won Best Artist, defeating on the process serious competition from Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. She also was crowned as Best U.S. Act! A bit up north from her and the U.S., Johnny Orlando won Best Canadian Act for second year in a row, and we couldn’t be more proud of him!
DJ Khaled won the Best Video award for “Popstar” featuring Drake and Doja Cat became Best New while Yungblud did the same with Best Push. And apparently, BTS have the Biggest Fans!
Talking a bit about genres, Little Mix (the show’s hosts) won Best Pop, knocking out heavy hitters such as Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Coldplay won Best Rock and Cardi B Best Hip-Hop. David Guetta won Best Electronic the same weekend he conquered the 2020 DJ Mag Top 100, Hayley Williams won Best Alternative and Karol G won Best Latin.
