‘Fan Account of the Month’ (#FAOTM) is a fan-appreciation series on UMUSIC!
At UMUSIC, we acknowledge and value the efforts of fans from around the world. The passion, dedication and love fans have for their favourite artists is something the team at UMUSIC has admired for a long time. For this reason, UMUSIC has decided to feature a fan account every month. This will give our UMUSIC community the opportunity to learn about different fandoms, their hardworking members and more about the artists!
Fan account: A social media account created by a fan dedicated to a particular piece of pop culture. This series will focus on fan accounts dedicated to artists.
Update account: A fan-run social media source for fan accounts. An update account serves as the main source of updates on a specific artist. An update account will gather all media, promotional items, and information on an artist and share the information with other fans. Think of update accounts as a constantly updated Wikipedia for fans. This series will also focus on update accounts, which are simply larger fan accounts.

July’s fan account of the month features the Billie Eilish fan account, @billieeilishtours, that has been updating fans on Billie’s tours and more since 2019. Originally based out of Europe to update fans on the 1BY1 tour dates, the account has gone on to obtain over 300K followers. Now based out of Europe, the UK and USA, these 6 admins are dedicated to updating Billie fans on an international level. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to C, Sarah, Freya, Ry, B and M, who never fail to miss a beat about Billie.
The team at UMUSIC interviewed the billieeilishtours administrators about their love of Billie Eilish, their favourite moments and much more. Below is a collection of their answers…
Why are you a fan of Billie Eilish?
C – Honestly, she’s just someone who I could always rely on to be there for me even if it’s not in a physical sense. She’s honest and authentic and it’s just so much fun seeing her evolve. The way she treats her fans and the love she has for the people around her is just so special. I have absolutely loved adulting by her side. Plus, she’s a sagittarius and those are always pretty great people. Hahahaha.
Sarah – I just love what she stands for and her music brings back so many good memories for me. Her music literally soundtracked my teenage years.
Freya – She’s extremely talented and as someone who is the same age as I am, it’s very inspiring to see her work ethic and creativity. Billie and Finneas are an amazing duo together and I first just became a fan because of how much I adored her music, but it solidified itself into something more once I saw more of her personality back in 2017 and 2018. Words can’t describe how proud i am of her.
Ry – She’s such a down to earth, genuine human being. It’s hard not to be a fan of someone who puts so much dedication and energy into their work.
B – I’m a fan of Billie’s because she’s opened a new perspective for me in a way; I never knew a celebrity who’s open with their fans and their music as much as billie is. I think it really impacted my love for her. Her music is something soothing to me and I respect everything she’s ever done to get to her goals.
M – I just really connect with her personality and music. Her music has helped me through a really tough period in my life and focusing on what she’s doing gave me a really good distraction from what was going on in my life. She’s just such a genuine human and the way she interacts with us as fans is really special; it feels like we have an actual connection.
As a fan, how would you describe Billie to someone who’s never heard of her?
C – Authenticity. Sincere. Funny. Caring. Chaotic, but in the best possible and most charming way. All of the above.
Sarah – Unpredictable!!! She doesn’t stay within the lines of a genre or stay within the “rules” of fame, which I love about her.
Freya – How, in 2021, have you not heard of Billie!? Billie is a young, talented and hard working artist who has been releasing incredible and creative bodies of work since 2015 with the help of her older brother, Finneas. She’s the IT girl of our generation.
Ry – I would describe Billie as sincere. She cares for everyone, even the people who don’t really understand/like her.
B – I would describe Billie as a talented, unapologetic, and selfless person. She’s truly got the talent in everything she does, whether it’s singing, directing or anything along those lines. She thinks of everyones’ feelings on how they would react to anything she puts out.
M – Ball of energy, positivity and realness. Despite appearances, she’s a really sweet, gentle and caring person, so instead of judging her on first glance, I’d recommend watching some interviews of hers 🙂
Go back to the beginning…when did you become a Billie Eilish stan?
C – I fairly remember listening to “ocean eyes” on SoundCloud, but I only went back to the song a few times because I barely use SoundCloud to listen to stuff. A few months later, I had a Spotify suggestion for “bellyache” and I loved the song so much that I actually looked up the artist. I had this crazy epiphany that it was the same artist singing those two songs and I was hooked from that very moment.
Sarah – I became obsessed with her music in 2018.
Freya – After I heard “Bored” on the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack and I recognized her voice and name from when “ocean eyes” went viral, I followed her from that point until the release of her first EP, ‘dont smile at me.’ Now, 4 years later, she’s about to release her sophomore full length album ‘Happier Than Ever.’ Time flies 🙂
Ry – I became a stan after listening to the “ocean eyes” blackbear remix. I looked up who this mystery girl was and instantly fell in love with her personality.
B – Around early summer of 2018, I discovered more of Billie than I originally did. I was recommended videos of her tour and her music, and I finally gave in just to be in awe of her personality and music.
M – June 2018. I was at my best friend’s house one morning and we were looking at a playlist made by Spotify for music to listen to. I read her name and as I’ve heard of her before, I thought “oh, let me see what the hype’s all about.” The song I clicked on was “lovely” – fell in love with it instantly.
What was the first song you had ever heard from Billie?
C – “ocean eyes”
Sarah – “lovely”
Freya – “ocean eyes”
Ry – “ocean eyes” (blackbear remix)
B – The first song I heard of Billie’s was “ocean eyes” through musical.ly
M – “bellyache” in an interview that popped up on my feed, but the first song I actually voluntarily played from her knowing she’s the artist who sings it was “lovely.”
What about Billie Eilish resonates so much with you?
C – Honestly, I don’t really know. She’s just a very relatable person. And since she’s so honest, there are a lot of things you can relate to. I also love how she goes about her art and how much of a perfectionist she is when it comes to that. You can tell she’s really there for the music and I really appreciate that about her.
Sarah – I just love how real she is. I feel as though some things she talks about in interviews, I can relate to in many ways and so she makes me feel safe.
Freya – A lot of things, but simply put, she’s like the friend I never had. Someone who understood exactly what I was going through; her lyricism expresses it all perfectly alongside Finneas’ production – i adore it. She’s also funny as hell and always stayed true to herself no matter how big her following grew. It’s rare to find that kind of authenticity with artists these days.
Ry – She’s authentic. She puts so much work into the music she makes, she speaks out about mental health, as well as her issues with accepting her body. It’s really easy to resonate with as a teenage girl.
B – As I said, Billie is very open with fans. She treats us like her best friends. I think that’s an important factor and characteristic of who Billie is. Many people aren’t aware of that or only see glimpses of what the fans see.
M – I guess how raw and real she is about her feelings. I usually keep what bothers me bottled up inside, so hearing someone articulate exactly what I’m feeling is a relief.
Which Billie Eilish track is your all time favourite?
C – “bury a friend.” It’s literally her best song. Like, it’s so good, are we kidding? How do you even come up with a song like that. The whole execution is just perfect. But also, “Bored” is a fantastic song. I love that one. It’s so good live.
Sarah – At the moment, it’s “i love you” but it changes a lot hahaha.
Freya – Probably “bellyache” or “bitches broken hearts,” though “my strange addiction,” “&burn” and “ilomilo” live are my absolute favourites.
Ry – WHEN THE PARTY’S OVER!!
B – My favorite Billie track of all time is “listen before i go.” I discovered this song when it was unreleased, almost 2 years before it was officially put out on ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’ It has significant meaning to me, which really makes it a special song to me.
M – 100% “everything i wanted.” When it dropped and I heard it for the first time, I bawled my eyes out to it for hours on end. It just moved something in me.
Which Billie music video resonates most with you?
C – “bury a friend” is such a cool music video. The whole concept is amazing. But the choreo, colors and message of the “hostage” music video are just crazy good. I can’t decide. They are both great.
Sarah – “hostage”
Freya – “when the party’s over,” definitely. One of my favourite music videos of all time. “bellyache” also, it’s just the best.
Ry – The “bury a friend” or “hostage” music video are probably one of the best music videos ever put out by an artist, but i’m a little biased.
B – “hostage,” I would rewatch the music video countless times because I enjoyed watching the metaphorical moves that were choreographed.
M – The “idontwannabeyouanymore” music video resonates a lot with me because I’ve sadly gone through a very similar self-hate phase.
Who would you like to see Billie collaborate with?
C – I honestly don’t really like collaborations that much. I’m more of the opinion that Billie is just such a strong solo artist that I just like it better when she does solo projects. So I am not too keen on like a specific one. But if I had to choose, it would have to be someone that fit her vibe. Frank Ocean would be so cool.
Sarah – Honestly, I love her on her own but if it were to be anyone, I’d probably want a Billie x Olivia Rodrigo collab. That would be BIG.
Freya – I honestly have absolutely no idea, I love Billie’s solo releases the most.
Ry – I feel like Billie is a stand-alone artist. She doesn’t really need to collaborate with another person to get her message across.
B – Billie has a uniqueness in her voice and the way she makes her music which makes her stand out of collaborations. But, her working with R&B artist 6LACK would really be something amazing!
M – Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, James Blake and Olivia Rodrigo.
Aside from the whole record, is there a song on ‘Happier Than Ever’ you’re excited to hear?
C – “Oxytocin,” “Male Fantasy” and the title track. They’ve been hyped up so much by her team and obviously they would know, right?
Sarah – “Male Fantasy”!!! Billie’s team have hyped it up a lot, so I’m excited to hear what it’s like.
Freya – “Male Fantasy” and “Everybody Dies”!
Ry – There’s several. “Male Fantasy,” “I Didn’t Change My Number” and “Oxytocin” are the ones I’m most excited for!
B – I’m very excited to hear “I Didn’t Change My Number” and “OverHeated.” I think those two songs will be something new from her.
M – Yes, I’m very excited to hear “Oxytocin” and the title track. From what’s been revealed until now, those two sound incredibly interesting.
Do you own any Billie merch? If not, what would you like to own from her one day?
C – I own a few pieces that I really love, but not too much. I would love to have some of the new pieces! Some of them are pretty cool like the ‘Happier Than Ever’ tank. I love that one.
Sarah – I’ve collected quite a lot of her merch over the years, but I’d love to get some of the new ‘Happier Than Ever’ merch sometime soon!
Freya – I own a few pieces! I’d absolutely adore to have her older 7″ records, they’re some of my holy grail items. I also miss her 2017/2018 Blohsh merch, it’s so nostalgic for me and a lot of other fans.
Ry – I own way too much, my collection has only tripled since quarantine.
B – I own a lot of merch from Billie. I would like to collect a lot of the older merch however, because it’s sentimental and I regret not buying it when I had the chance.
M – Haha, I own way too much for my own good :))
If you were to meet Billie Eilish, what would you say to her?
C – I’ve met her before actually and I planned to say something specific, but I just ended up saying something completely different. Hahaha. I feel like you just get too excited to finally see her that you just blurt it all out. But right now, I would tell her how proud I am of her and that she is so much better than all the hate she is receiving at the minute. And that we are there for her.
Sarah – I’ve met her previously and actually always just end up word vomiting to her hahaha! I feel like it’s so difficult to plan what to say to her because it’s just so exciting in the moment, that you forget everything you want to say. But I’d just like to tell her how proud of her I am really.
Freya – I have absolutely no idea… I’d have to just thank her for everything; for releasing such beautiful and honest records that can only be described as musical hugs. They, and Billie, mean so much to me in ways which are completely indescribable. She’s been there for me when nobody else was. I’d tell her how proud I am of her, for coming so far in her career but also mentally. She’s overcome so much and we’re all so proud of where she is now. It’s been an honour watching her grow for the past 4 years.
Ry – I met her in June of 2019, but I would love to remind her that she is going to be okay and that she needs to always make sure she’s good before worrying about anyone else. She’s constantly under criticism and I can only imagine how badly that hurts as a teenager.
B – Billie has given me many opportunities in just 4 years. I would thank her for everything and tell her how much her existence has changed my life and how much she is loved.
M – I would like to remind her of how loved she is and mostly thank her for helping me navigate a really difficult part in my life.
Finally, are there any other Billie Eilish fan accounts you would recommend to fans?
C – eilishoutfits on Instagram. They have magic powers or something with figuring out what Billie is wearing in like less than a minute.
