‘Fan Account of the Month’ (#FAOTM) is a fan-appreciation series on UMUSIC!
At UMUSIC, we acknowledge and value the efforts of fans from around the world. The passion, dedication and love fans have for their favourite artists is something the team at UMUSIC has admired for a long time. For this reason, UMUSIC has decided to feature a fan account every month. This will give our UMUSIC community the opportunity to learn about different fandoms, their hardworking members and more about the artists!
Fan account: A social media account created by a fan dedicated to a particular piece of pop culture. This series will focus on fan accounts dedicated to artists.
Update account: A fan-run social media source for fan accounts. An update account serves as the main source of updates on a specific artist. An update account will gather all media, promotional items, and information on an artist and share the information with other fans. Think of update accounts as a constantly updated Wikipedia for fans. This series will also focus on update accounts, which are simply larger fan accounts.

August’s fan account of the month features a Lorde fan account, @LordeDaily, which has been keeping fans updated on all things Lorde since 2013. Based out of Mérida, México, meet the account’s administrator, Armin, who’s been a dedicated Lorde fan since her debut! Armin posts all things Lorde to keep us in the know, and enjoys creating conversations with other fans. True to the name, you won’t miss a daily update!
The team at UMUSIC interviewed Armin about what makes them love Lorde, their favourite Lorde tracks and so much more. Below are a collection of their answers…
Why are you a fan of Lorde?
I’m a fan of Lorde because ever since I read about her; this awkward teenager with dreams of making it out of their city, I could relate to her. We’re about the same age so it was something really powerful for me at 15, seeing this 16-year-old killing it; so in control of her music and what she wants to portray.
What makes Lorde so unique?
She’s just fucking real. In this industry, where everything is fake and make believe, she tries to stay as real as possible. I really admire her gut to do what she wants, the way she wants it.

What about Lorde resonates with you?
I could see myself in her. There’s this line in the song “Team” that for me is really powerful.
“We live in cities, you’ll never see on screen,
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things,
Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams,
And you know, we’re on each other’s team.”
For me, she was this constant reminder that no matter where you are from, you could find people that are on your same team; a team of dreamers that live in cities, that you’ll never see on screen but we all dream of the same thing.
How would you describe Lorde’s fandom?
We are loyal and (very) patient. I feel like it’s almost like a big big family. Almost four years since her last album came out and the start of her hiatus from social media, and we’ve been just waiting for this moment.
When and how did you first discover Lorde? What was the first song you heard?
I first discovered Lorde through this app called 8tracks that had free music that streamed from Soundcloud. By this time, Lorde had put out the whole ‘The Love Club’ EP. She was on this playlist called ‘Driving by the Westcoast’ and “Royals” was the third track on it. The chorus stuck in my head like glue and I couldn’t help but look for the music video on YouTube. Once I saw her and read about who she was, I was a fan.
What is your all time favourite track of Lorde’s?
This is a hard one, but for me it would be “Bravado.” This is an old one but every time I listen to it, it just makes me feel powerful.
What is your favourite song off ‘Solar Power’?
Too early for this question, but right now it would be “Mood Ring.”
How would you describe the ‘Solar Power’ era?
An intimate era where you can just see her love of making music. This time, it wasn’t about success or the critics’ opinions, but sharing her story with people who want to listen.
Who would you like to see Lorde collaborate with in the future?
Ever since she tweeted this, I cannot think of another dream collaboration.

Do you own any Lorde merch? If not, is there anything you want to get?
I own all of her albums, I have this t-shirt I bought from when I travelled all the way to the US for the ‘Melodrama’ tour, and a cute keychain from 2014. The new Solar Power / Stoned at the Nail Salon merch is such a dream.

Have you ever met Lorde? If not, what would you say to her if you did?
I have! I’ve seen her live four times, and I’ve got the chance to say hi to her twice. Forever grateful for this.

Finally, are there any other Lorde fan accounts you recommend?
Yes! @Lorde_fix and @LordeAnalytics on Twitter.
The UMUSIC team would like to thank Armin of @LordeDaily and all the Lorde fans out there for their undying appreciation. The love and support you bring with everything you do is why we’re so proud of the entire fandom.
