15 NOVEMBER 2023 (TORONTO, ON) — Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Music Group’s latest song release, “Knowing What I Know Now,” is now available on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 133, YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and all digital service providers. Performed by Ariana DeBose as Asha, Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya and “Wish” cast members, the song is the final song to be revealed as part of the weekly “Wish Wednesdays” music rollout ahead of the film’s launch in theaters on November 22. All seven songs in the film were penned by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy®-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice.
According to director Chris Buck, “Knowing What I Know Now” showcases the moment when the people around Asha realize that she is on the right path as she takes on the formidable king and his intentions for most of the wishes. “It’s a bit of a rally cry that shows the depth of her support system,” said Buck. “Asha is leading the charge all alone at first, but when her friends and an important figure in the community see that change is in order, Asha’s journey is validated and fueled.”
“Everyone finally starts opening their eyes to what Magnifico really is,” said Michaels. “Asha is trying to get her friends to join her in the fight to get everyone their wishes back. By the end of the song, everyone’s in it together. It’s drum-heavy and emotional.”
Rice says he loves the song because of the raw energy and truth to power that the song speaks. “It is a powerful moment that gives me goosebumps every time,” he said. “The bridge of this song is one of my favorite musical moments of the film and it encapsulates the journey that the teens have been on in their own struggle to stand up to Magnifico.”
The Wish Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available this Friday via Universal Music Canada on all streaming platforms. Fans can pre-order the vinyl here. All-new original songs featured include:
