04 SEPTEMBER 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — With “The Big Night Out,” Giant Rooks are releasing a bittersweet indie-pop anthem on September 4 about the contradictions of a romantic relationship. The song explores closeness and emotional distance, the fear of loss, and of the desperate attempt to keep a loved one by one’s side despite all the unspoken truths.
Amid intimate moments, inner conflicts, and the looming separation as the partner heads to Marseille, a portrait emerges of a relationship marked by longing and uncertainty. The recurring plea “tell me how I can make you stay” lends the song a special sense of urgency and makes “The Big Night Out” a poignant piece about vulnerability, hope, and saying goodbye.
Following “ROOKERY“ and “How Have You Been?“, Giant Rooks will release their third studio album, If Heaven Exists, This Might Be It, on October 16. Its twelve songs revolve around the longing for connection in a deeply manipulative world strained by alienation and inner conflict. Amid transience, memory, and confusion, the band turns its attention to the havens of love and friendship that deserve to be cherished. Through their signature indie-pop sound – long established on the international stage – Giant Rooks explore and celebrate the heavenly within the earthly.
Giant Rooks have built a reputation as one of Germany’s most compelling modern indie exports – defined by emotional songwriting, a powerful live presence, and steadily growing global reach.
In 2025 Giant Rooks played two completely sold-out shows in their hometown Hamm, Germany, which became an emotional homecoming but also marked a new milestone for the band’s success. Earlier in 2024, they completed their third sold-out North American headline tour, returned as special guest for Louis Tomlinson, and performed major international festival sets including Lollapalooza Chicago, Reading & Leeds, and Corona Capital in Mexico City.
With 4 billion combined streams, a RIAA Gold certification in the US, multiple airplay hits across Europe, and their last album How Have You Been? debuting at #1 on the German album charts, Giant Rooks have proven their sound is not only resonating at home – but has long been internationally relevant.
