JAMES BARKER BAND TAKE THE REINS AS HOSTS OF THE 2026 CCMA AWARDS
THE BAND HAS EARNED SIX CCMA NOMINATIONS, INCLUDING ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
11 SEPTEMBER 2026 (Toronto, ON) – Multi-JUNO and CCMA Award-winning band James Barker Band continue to push their sound forward with “Hey Honey,” their latest single, out today via Universal Music Canada. Produced by Todd Clark (Noah Kahan, Lewis Capaldi, Phillip Phillips) and co-written by Lowell (Beyoncé, Tate McRae, Backstreet Boys), the track arrives with an accompanying music video.
“Hey Honey” takes another step down the path they began exploring with their previous release, “After Dark,” pairing the band’s signature country instincts with a more raw, unfiltered approach to songwriting.
At its core, “Hey Honey” is about weathering the messier moments of life together. With its vivid imagery of whiskey, fire, smoke and the aftermath of a long night, the song captures the tension, frustration and ultimately the optimism that comes with knowing there’s always another day to start again.
“Going to call a spade a spade…‘Hey Honey’ is very different from anything we’ve released in the past. It’s further down the path of what we did with ‘After Dark’, and it foreshadows things to come,” says James. “The only filter we’re using now when writing is ‘is it real’. If a song doesn’t stir something up in us when we listen back to it, then it’s not right.”
“Simply put…I guess you could say we’re following our hearts, and not letting any external factors get in the way of that. So excited for everyone to hear ‘Hey Honey’, and all of the new music still to come.”

The release follows a triumphant summer for JBB. Their previous single, “After Dark,” has already reached the Top 15 at Canadian country radio and climbing. The track was also the #1 most-added song overall across all formats for two consecutive weeks.
Adding another first to an already impressive year, James Barker Band will host the 2026 CCMA Awards, bringing their trademark energy and humour to Canada’s biggest night in country music. They are heading into the awards with six nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, and will take the stage for an unforgettable performance.
With more than 414 million global streams, six No. 1 singles at Canadian country radio, 12 Gold and Platinum certifications, 6 CCMA Awards, and two JUNO Awards for Country Album of the Year, James Barker Band have become one of Canada’s most successful country acts. The quartet, James Barker (lead vocals/guitar), Connor Stephen (drums), Taylor Abram (guitar/background vocals) and Bobby Martin (bass), have built a reputation for hit songs, major live shows and a chemistry that comes through both on and off stage.
In 2026, James Barker Band have continued to build momentum on both sides of the border. The band recently surprised more than 30,000 fans with a performance at Chicago’s Rate Field before taking the stage for their biggest show to date, performing for more than 70,000 fans at Festival d’été de Québec.
Throughout their career, James Barker Band have opened for some of music’s biggest names, including Post Malone, Rascal Flatts, Jelly Roll, Thomas Rhett and the Jonas Brothers, while continuing to grow their audience across North America and beyond.
