09 OCTOBER 2026 (TORONTO, ON) – Indie-folk artist Braden Lam continues his rollout of new music with brand new single “Suzie’s Beach,” out today via Universal Music Canada. The honest, sax-powered track calls to make the most of the moment regardless of the circumstances, and arrives shortly after “Coquihalla,” Lam’s first taste of new music since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, The Cloudmaker’s Cry (2025).

Written entirely by Lam, produced by Josh Block (Leon Bridges, Caamp, Vincent Neil Emerson), and recorded in Los Angeles, CA live-off-the-floor to tape earlier this spring at 64sound recording studios, “Suzie’s Beach” is a paean to summertime skinny-dipping escapades, but set against the backdrop of an Atlantic Ocean that has become so polluted, sharks are testing positive for cocaine.

Lam elaborates on the meaning of the song further:

“There’s just so much going on all the time,” Lam says. “No one person can handle the amount of sad news that is coming out of this world today. And I think there’s a level of blissful ignorance we all need to assume in our lives—if you want to surf or if you want to go skinny-dipping, enjoy that moment. Don’t worry about getting eaten by the cocaine sharks. It’s a risk you’ve got to take to live.”

“Suzie’s Beach” arrives alongside an aptly tongue-in-cheek music video that sees Lam trying to capture the attention of passersby as he attempts to inform them of issues they should be paying attention to. Shot in downtown Toronto and directed by a familiar collaborator Griffin O’Toole, this video’s storyline along with the “Coquihalla” video storyline, will be extended further through a collection of visuals in the coming months.
