16 OCTOBER 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — Perhaps heaven is not some distant, unattainable place, but simply a different way of looking at what is already here: all the people we love, those who cross our paths and sometimes disappear from our lives again. The losses, the loneliness, the hope, the dreams, the nostalgia.
Following ROOKERY and How Have You Been?, Giant Rooks release their third studio album, IF HEAVEN EXISTS, THIS MIGHT BE IT today. Its twelve songs revolve around the longing for connection in a deeply manipulative world strained by alienation and inner conflict. Amid transience, memory, and confusion, the band turns its attention to the havens of love and friendship that deserve to be cherished. Through their signature indie-pop sound – long established on the international stage – Giant Rooks explore and celebrate the heavenly within the earthly.
The idea for the new album first emerged around a year and a half ago, followed by the development of initial concepts and the recording of demos. The first studio session took place in July at Angelic Studios in the English countryside. Secluded from the outside world, the band returned to the UK a few months later for a second intensive recording phase – this time at the legendary Real World Studios, which have previously hosted artists including Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé, Arctic Monkeys, and Harry Styles.
The aim was to work in a way that felt as analogue, hands-on, and immediate as possible. In an age of almost limitless technological possibilities, this approach may seem deliberately anachronistic – yet for precisely that reason, it aligns perfectly with the search for authenticity at the heart of the album.
“We have been together as a band for more than ten years now. Working on this album was the most difficult thing we have ever done. We began in early 2025, and from the outset, we tried to free ourselves from any external expectations and simply make the music that felt completely authentic to us.” – Giant Rooks
The singles “The Future Is Cancelled,” “Want It Back,” “The Waves,” and “Slow Dance (For A Minute)” offer the first glimpse of the album. They tell of melancholy and new beginnings, of memories suddenly coming back to life, and of the impossible desire to hold on to a single moment forever. These four songs alone reveal the musical breadth of IF HEAVEN EXISTS, THIS MIGHT BE IT.
Delicate piano passages, compelling guitar chords, energetic drums, and hypnotic layers of synths create an immersive atmosphere throughout the album. It is carried by the band’s exceptional instinct for timeless melodies and lyrical depth – at times tender and introspective, at others entirely disruptive.
As part of their tour, Giant Rooks will bring the new songs not only to stages across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but also to audiences throughout North and South America.
Six years ago, Giant Rooks were still falling from the clouds on the cover of ROOKERY. The artwork for their new album now offers a gentler invitation: to float—not somewhere high above in a blue-grey sky, but here and now.
IF HEAVEN EXISTS, THIS MIGHT BE IT proposes a fundamental shift in perspective: We are here together, in this moment. And perhaps that is already the most wondrous thing there is.
With 4 billion combined streams, a RIAA Gold certification in the US, multiple airplay hits across Europe, and their last album How Have You Been? debuting at #1 on the German album charts, Giant Rooks have proven their sound is not only resonating at home – but has long been internationally relevant.
