22 JULY 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — Eight-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer & songwriter Kacey Musgraves today released the official music video for her sexy summer anthem, “Mexico Honey, from her sixth studio album Middle of Nowhere. Filmed on location in Mexico, the captivating video was directed by Running Bear (Alexa Stone and Stephen Kinigopoulos) and for Kacey is just as much a tribute to the captivatingly beautiful country of Mexico as it is the passion and experiences that have inspired her there. Middle of Nowhere, was released in May and debuted at #1 on the Top Album chart with widespread acclaim. It has been named one of the year’s best albums by Billboard, Elle, Esquire, Flood, Rolling Stone, NPR, and Variety among others. Pitchfork praised its “expertly written” songs while The Wall Street Journal hailed its “smart musical storytelling. ” Produced by Musgraves alongside longtime collaborators Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, the album features the boldly hilarious and self-aware first single “Dry Spell,” a sharp-witted song that blends classic country sounds with a modern perspective. The title track, “Middle of Nowhere,” was inspired by an actual sign in Musgraves’ tiny, unincorporated, hometown of Golden, Texas, population under 300, that reads: “Golden, TX: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere.” Both the sign and the solitary headspace she found herself in became the symbolic foundation for the album.
Middle of Nowhere exhales with a dust-blown clarity that feels both evocative and sure. Drawing from the sounds, stories, and sensibilities that shaped the Texas native, the album feels both fresh and familiar, and classically Kacey: honest, fearless, immersive, and always ready to wink at life’s twists, turns, and troubles.
Written during a period of post-breakup reflection, Middle of Nowhere finds Musgraves leaning intentionally into open space and traditional Western influences while, as always, earnestly examining the human experience. Pedal steel, accordion, and Texas dancehall rhythms provide a nostalgic foundation that she flips on its head in signature fashion. The result is a sonic love letter to the musical borders of Country, drawing inspiration from neighboring genres including bluegrass, pop, Norteño, and Zydeco. Middle of Nowhere features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov, further underscoring its deep Texas roots and genre-defying spirit.
Musgraves will launch the Middle of Nowhere North American Tour at Chicago’s United Center. Produced by AEG Presents, the arena run includes multiple nights at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and concludes with two nights at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on October 26 and 27. Support acts on the tour include Midland, Flatland Cavalry, Carter Faith, Estevie, Charles Wesley Godwin, William Beckmann, Gabriella Rose and The Brudi Brothers. In addition it was recently announced that Kaceywill be honored with the ACM Spirit Award at the Academy of Country Music’s (ACM)® 19th ACM HONORS in Nashville on August 19th. Inspired by 20-time ACM Award recipient Merle Haggard, this award is presented to an honoree that exemplifies Merle’s dedication to Country Music and passion for storytelling through music and performance.
