“When I was recording my earlier albums,
trying to be a one-person orchestra,
I always dreamed of having more people playing with me.
Now, twenty years later, I decided to make this dream come true.”

Hildur Guðnadóttir

04 SEPTEMBER 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — Following the release of Elevation (Version for Orchestra) in August, Hildur Guðnadóttir will deliver the second installment of her forthcoming album of expanded works with Floods (Version for Orchestra), which will be released on 4 September 2026.

Recorded with conductor Robert Ames and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the new track brings the Academy Award-winning composer’s deeply personal musical language to an expansive orchestral setting. Like Elevation, Floods (Version for Orchestra) is presented as a special standalone companion to her forthcoming album This Will Be Us.

On this track, Guðnadóttir performs solo cello and produced the recording, which was recorded, mixed and mastered by her long-time collaborator Francesco Donadello.

With Floods (Version for Orchestra), Guðnadóttir offers another chapter in her celebration of two decades of music, realising on an orchestral scale the sound she once imagined as a solo artist.

The release follows an astounding month for Hildur – having composed the score for Electra/Persona, which made its debut at the National Theatre in London starring Cate Blanchett, Nina Hoss and Ella Lily Hyland. Alongside the announcement of Guðnadóttir as the Guest of Honour at the 26th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards, which takes place on October 10th as part of Film Fest Gent. Hildur has previously been honoured by the World Soundtrack Academy as Television Composer of the Year (2019) and Film Composer of the Year (2020).

Guðnadóttir’s new album This Will Be Us will be released on 23 October 2026, and will be marked by the first run of a series of special performances of This Will Be Us which will take place in Berlin, Oslo and Antwerp with more dates to be added.
