03 NOVEMBER 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — Sam Fender shares an evocative cover of the Rolling Stones’ iconic, You Can’t Always Get What You Want.  Stream the new track here

Self-produced alongside his band mates, Joe Atkinson and Dean Thompson, the song was recorded in Tyneside and features the choir from the John Spence Community High School in North Shields, where Sam was a former pupil, and brass from the Easington Colliery Band.

The recording soundtracks this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert – watch the advert here.

Sam Fender: “It was a privilege to rework such an iconic song by such a legendary band. In the spirit of Christmas, we re-recorded the children’s choir with the kids from my old school, John Spence Community High School, and we arranged a brass section with the Easington Colliery Band.”

Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger: “I’m a fan of Sam’s work, so I was pleased to hear he was covering one of my songs. I think he’s done a great job with it.”

Fans can buy Sam’s cover on 7” and CD from https://shop.samfender.com/. The single is backed with Sam Fender’s 2020 cover of Lindisfarne’s Winter Song, available physically for the first time.

Sam Fender and Polydor Records will be donating 100% of the Net Profits* received from sales in the UK of the CD and 7” single “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” sold via the official Sam Fender online store (https://shop.samfender.com) to Teenage Cancer Trust (registered charity numbers 1062559 (England & Wales) and SC039757 (Scotland)).

TCT is the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and expert youth support for young people with cancer. They provide support for anyone diagnosed with cancer aged 13-24, and their loved ones too. We fund specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital wards within the NHS, so young people with cancer get the sensitive, individual care and support they need at this unique and critical life stage.

All John Lewis profits from each record sold from John Lewis stores will be donated to Action for Children, the retailer’s charity partner of Building Happier Futures, which helps people who have grown up in care build brighter futures.
