THE WHITE BUFFALO TO RELEASE SHADOWS, GREYS & EVIL WAYS ON SEPTEMBER 10
THE FIRST RECORD VIA UNISON MUSIC GROUP’S NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA
(TORONTO, ON – 18 July 2013) – Americana singer-songwriter The White Buffalo will release his upcoming record, Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways via an exclusive new partnership between Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company and Unison Music Group. The album will be available on September 10.
Under the moniker The White Buffalo, Jake Smith recorded Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways at LA’s Unison Music Studios. Produced by the Grammy-nominated team of Bruce Witkin and Ryan Dorn, the album sees the core trio of Jake Smith, bassist Tom Andrews and drummer Matt Lynott joined by ex-Jayhawk Jessy Greene and drumming legend Jim Keltner on “Don’t You Want It”.
The album traces the life story of Joey White, a small town outsider who goes to war and returns home only to find more violence as he struggles to readjust to a life away from the front lines and reconcile with the girl he left behind.
Smith writes about rebels, outsiders and troubled souls battling their way through the obstacles life throws in their paths, telling timeless tales set against recognizably contemporary backdrops. The hard-bitten themes and performances that have defined his career led the producers of Sons of Anarchy to grab six of Smith’s songs for use under scenes in the similarly edgy series. Smith has also has a new song, “The American Dream” currently featured on the soundtrack to The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp.
