2 CHAINZ REVEALS NEW ALBUM TITLE, RAP OR GO TO THE LEAGUE, AT DEF JAM’S NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND PARTY

FOLLOW UP TO CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED EP THE PLAY DON’T CARE WHO MAKES IT

“An artist who has fully stepped up into his moment (again). 2 Chainz is the ultimate embodiment of Atlanta rap.” - Pitchfork

21 FEBRUARY 2018 (Toronto, ON) – 2 Chainz, the multi-platinum Grammy Award®-winning MC, host of Viceland’s Most Expensivest series, and one of the most in-demand collaborators in the game, capped this week’s biggest mystery – a blimp in the Los Angeles sky emblazoned with the words Rap Or Go To The League at Def Jam’s NBA All Star Weekend party.  The spectacle served as the announcement of his forthcoming album title, slated to release via Def Jam Recordings/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.

Once again, Chainz proves that he is an audacious marketer, as insiders recalled the Pink Trap House in Atlanta in support of his latest LP, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, which attracted visitors from around the world.

Chainz’ album title unveiling came hot on the heels of last week’s release of his surprise new 4-song EP, The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It.  The EP is off to a fast start with rave critical reviews, and a viral standout track, “Proud” featuring YG and Offset, that has already accumulated millions of streams. Pitchfork proclaimed, “2 Chainz has perfected the art of the EP…he basks in the fruits of the plays he’s made…an artist who has fully stepped up into his moment (again). 2 Chainz is the ultimate embodiment of Atlanta rap.”

Rap Or Go To The League is set to arrive as the follow-up to his 2017 release, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, which accumulated over 1.3 billion streams and spun off a trio of consecutive RIAA platinum rap/R&B/pop crossover hit singles: “Good Drank” featuring Quavo and Gucci Mane; “It’s A Vibe” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz and Jhene Aiko; and “4 AM” featuring Travis Scott. Following the release, Chainz embarked on the 35-city Pretty Girls Like Trap Music Tour of North America in a now infamous pink wheelchair.

In addition to music, Chainz’ influence continues to grow as his wildly popular TV show, Most Expensivest, was greenlit for a second season on VICELAND. Moreover, he has a new sneaker collaboration with Versace called Chain Reaction set to hit stores this spring.

Stay tuned for more details on Chainz' new album, Rap Or Go To The League, coming soon.

About 2 Chainz:

Following his run as a founding member of Def Jam duo Playaz Circle from his native Atlanta, 2 Chainz’ name was on everyone’s lips in 2012, when he stole a verse on “Mercy,” fellow Def Jam artist Kanye West/G.O.O.D. Music’s RIAA triple-platinum #1 R&B/#1 Rap hit (from Cruel Summer).  In August 2012, Chainz arrived as a Def Jam solo artist with Based On A T.R.U. Story, his debut album.  B.O.A.T.S. entered Soundscan at #1 and was certified RIAA gold.  Its success was fueled by the RIAA platinum #1“No Lie” featuring Drake, the double-platinum “Birthday Song” featuring Kanye West, and double-platinum “I’m Different.”  “Mercy” was subsequently a Grammy® nominee for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, while B.O.A.T.S. was nominated for Best Rap Album.  Chainz’ dominance was extended when the sequel, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time entered the Soundscan hip-hop chart at #1 in September 2013, and spun off the RIAA gold single, “Feds Watching” featuring Pharrell.

Over the next four years, Chainz music and content output was unstoppable. His deep catalog of mixtapes started to emerge in 2007 (including the 3-partTrap-A-Velli series); in 2016 alone he released three critically acclaimed mixtapes (Felt Like Cappin, Daniel Son; Necklace Don, and Hibachi For Lunch).  He also teamed up with New Orleans hip-hop legend Lil Wayne for the mammoth collaboration album ColleGrove; and delivered the third season of the web series for GQ, originally titled Most Expensivest Sh!t.

2017 brought 6-timeSoul Train and BET Hip-Hop Award-winner 2 Chainz his first career Grammy Award® win: Best Rap Performance for his stellar verse on Chance The Rapper’s “No Problem.”  The June release of Pretty Girls Like Trap Music was accompanied by a 35-city tour of North America through September.  Chainz’ TV appearances included visits with Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Trevor Noah. The albums, mix tapes, web series, and TV spots inspiredTheRinger.com to write: “Forget Mount Rushmore –  2 Chainz deserves his own national monument. This year dude is top five humans of all time.”
