TRACK IS THE FIRST SINGLE FROM DUO’S UPCOMING NEW ALBUM, I REMEMBER, DUE THIS SPRING
10 February 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Pop alchemists AlunaGeorge premiere the video for their new single “I’m in Control” featuring Jamaican rapper Popcaan today. Watch the video here. The video was directed by Emil Nava (Ed Sheeran, Tove Lo, Calvin Harris) and shot in the Dominican Republic – a fitting setting for the dancehall-inflected track. A song about interpersonal empowerment and ownership, “I’m in Control” is the first single to be released from the London duo’s upcoming new album I Remember, which will be released this spring via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Spin praised Aluna’s “uniquely sweet vocals” and called the post-chorus “a mesmerizing breakdown of fizzy, metronomic keyboards,” while Consequence of Sound calls it “a sultry number with dancehall undertones.” Pigeons and Planes writes: “Worlds collide beautifully on the duo’s new single ‘I’m In Control.’ Aluna’s sweet voice opens up the track with a soft melody, while George provides production fusing experimental pop and R&B with hints of dancehall — setting the perfect stage for Popcaan’s guest verse.”“I’M IN CONTROL”
