PRETTY GIRLS LIKE TRAP MUSIC is the long-awaited follow-up to 2 Chainz 2013 full length solo effort, B.O.A.T.S. II: ME TIME. In the four years since his last solo album, 2 Chainz music and content output has been unstoppable. In 2016 alone he released three critically acclaimed mixtapes (“Felt Like Cappin”, “Daniel Son; Necklace Don”, and “Hibachi For Lunch”), teamed up with hip hop legend Lil Wayne for a mammoth collaboration album entitled ColleGrove (March 2016) and partnered with GQ Magazine for the third season of his smash web-series “Most Expensivest Sh!t”. In 2017, 2 Chainz kicked off the year with his first Grammy Award win for Best Rap Performance for his stellar verse on Chance The Rapper’s hit song “No Problem”. Just a few weeks before the Grammy Award win, 2 Chainz announced the title of his forthcoming album, PRETTY GIRLS LIKE TRAP MUSIC, while at a press conference at an Atlanta Hawks game (his hometown NBA team).

Following his run as founding member of Def Jam duo Playaz Circle out of his native Atlanta, 2 Chainz’ name was on everyone’s lips in 2012, when he stole a verse on “Mercy”, fellow Def Jam artist Kanye West/G.O.O.D. Music’s RIAA triple-platinum #1 R&B/#1 Rap hit (from Cruel Summer). Four months later, Chainz arrived as a Def Jam solo artist with Based On A T.R.U. Story, his debut album of August 2012. B.O.A.T.S. entered Soundscan at #1 and was certified RIAA gold, fueled by the RIAA platinum “No Lie” featuring Drake, the double-platinum “Birthday Song” featuring Kanye West, and double-platinum “I’m Different.” “Mercy” was subsequently a Grammy® nominee for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, while B.O.A.T.S. was nominated for Best Rap Album. Chainz followed up with B.O.A.T.S. II: ME TIME (September 2013), extending Chainz’ dominance, entering the Soundscan hip-hop chart at #1, and spinning off the RIAA gold single, “Feds Watching” featuring Pharrell.
