4 NOVEMBER 2021 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, Arkells release new holiday original track, “The Last Christmas (We Ever Spend Apart),” via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The track comes paired with the band’s previously released original holiday song “Pub Crawl,” which is now available on all streaming platforms for the first time.

Up until recently, we had little interest in Christmas songs, let alone writing them, but after the pandemic and the social isolation that came with it, we think about the holidays in a different and more significant way,” explains frontman Max Kerman.

We couldn’t shake the feeling of how we miss the mundane and sometimes arduous activities that happen when you go home for the holidays. So many of us couldn’t see our folks or extended family because of lockdown, and we wanted to write a song about never taking those little moments for granted.”

Alongside new holiday merch, both songs are available for purchase on a signed limited edition 7” vinyl, with A/B cover art by Arkells guitarist Mike DeAngelis, available exclusively in the Arkells online store HERE. With longer than ever wait-times to produce vinyl globally in 2021, Arkells were able to cut 500 copies of their holiday 7” with the help of Red Spade Records’ Robyn Raymond, who manufactured each by hand. “The thought and care that went into making this physical piece of music can’t be understated,” said Kerman. “Robyn’s skill and love of the craft made an impossible timeline possible. We’re thrilled she was able to take the reins on this one.

Side B: Pub Crawl

Watch the official “Pub Crawl” video, directed by Mark Myers, HERE. “Pub Crawl” stems from a ‘12 Pubs of Christmas’ style tradition – a time the band reconnects with friends and family and gets into the holiday spirit.

Arkells recently shared live video cuts from their three once-in-a-return-from-pandemic history making nights at Toronto’s Iconic Budweiser Stage, as a tease to their 2022 Blink Once tour dates, planned for Canada, USA, the UK and Germany.

Blink Once also includes #1 track “Years In The Making,” “One Thing I Know,” “Swing Swing Swing,” “Strong,” as well as “All Roads,” which serves as the soundtrack to #TogetherAgain, a national vaccine awareness PSA to combat vaccine hesitancy, and latest single “Arm In Arm.”

About Arkells:

Hailed by The Globe and Mail as “the right kind of band for this decade,” Arkells are widely considered one of the most passionate, exuberant and in-demand live bands working today. As radio mainstays, sports-sync shoe-ins and curious students of culture, Arkells have remained ever present – building awareness and personal community experiences around their live shows and new music at every turn. The most emblematic example of this being The Rally, Arkells' hometown concert that was hailed as one of the biggest headline shows in the country, and is slated to return in 2022. On the heels of three #1 singles, Arkells continue to unleash new music and tour dates as the band and their fans return to live in-person festivities. Their hotly anticipated new album BLINK ONCE is out now.
