Veliz has been making and producing music since childhood but was until recently focusing on behind-the-scenes creation when a keen-eared label scout urged him back to centre stage. Soon after, Alx Veliz was inking global distribution deals and earning gold and platinum awards far from home. Veliz’s borderless sound reflects his home in multicultural Toronto, drawing on diverse influences from samba and salsa to reggae, hip-hop, and the king of pop, Michael Jackson. This savvy combination of dance floor-filling pop and smooth grooves underpins a sound with substance, setting Veliz apart from other artists in his genre.
