11 August 2017 (Toronto, ON) - Today, pop’s most promising and exciting new artist Billie Eilish releases her highly-anticipated and acclaimed debut EP dont smile at me via Darkroom/Interscope Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The collection of songs, produced by her 19-year-old brother Finneas O’Connell, arrive hot on the heels of the announcement of her first ever North American headlining tour, which starts in October and is already close to completely selling out.

The worldwide buzz surrounding the release of dont smile at me has been undeniable following its official announcement last month. With praise pouring in from the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine who applauded Billie for her “whispery soprano” and “stark landscapes” and TIME Magazine complimenting her vocals twisting “deftly around the dark melodies and trap-influenced beats.” Across the pond the prestigious BBC are already hailing her as “pop’s best new hope.”

Today, fans will get to hear two brand-new, previously unheard tracks from the EP. The first is “party favor”, a delightful ditty “about breaking up with someone in a voicemail...on their birthday,” Billie explains. The second is “hostage”, a song that explores the unhealthy side of love. Billie shared insight behind the song: “[it’s about] when you are so in love that you feel like you can't be without them and you can't see them with someone else. It is not a healthy feeling but I think everyone feels it at some point.”

The opening track, “COPYCAT”, a wonderfully moody pop gem and fan favorite that has been described as “smoldering” and “hip-hop influenced” by Billboard Magazine, was the first of three tracks revealed this summer by the 15-year-old. This stellar collection of eight compelling songs is now available worldwide on all digital platforms.

This fall, Billie will head down-under to play three sold out shows in New Zealand and Australia before returning to North American for her first ever headlining tour which includes one Canadian date at The Drake in Toronto on October 14 which is already sold out. In June, Billie unveiled her official video for her Thirteen Reasons Why Netflix Original soundtrack song “Bored” directed by Miles & AJ. Described as “stunning” and “artistic” by V Magazine, the video entered the GLOBAL TOP 50 most trending videos on YouTube. The song itself has received more than 9.8 million streams on Spotify while Eilish has collectively amassed an impressive 90+ million combined streams of her music to date.

This past summer Billie Eilish was featured in ELLE Magazine’s annual Women In Music issue, and was touted as being “on the verge of star status” as did Teen Vogue in their Music Issue who hailed the teenage artist as “THE next big thing”. VOGUE Magazine called it early appointing her as Pop’s Next It Girl while V Magazine foresee her as a “breakout star, headed to the top.”
