(Toronto, ON – 04 June 2014) – Quebec’s hugely acclaimed singer-songwriter, Bobby Bazini has the #1 album in the country!  The uniquely gifted rhythm and blues artist released his sophomore album, Where I Belong via Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading Music Company, last week and has earned Bazini his first #1 album. "This has been a beautiful journey for me,” comment Bazini.  “From the moment I arrived at Universal, to recording the album through to the fans’ amazing response.  I have been very appreciative of all the support and am thrilled that Where I Belong has debuted at #1!” “Bobby Bazini is an immense talent and ‘Where I Belong’ is a defining moment in this wonderful artist’s trajectory, said Randy Lennox, President and CEO, Universal Music Canada.  “It is with pride that music lovers across Canada have taken him to the top of the Canadian charts.” Last autumn, Bazini took the trip of a lifetime when he grabbed his guitar, packed up his car and left a small Montreal suburb for the Golden State to record with legendary producer Larry Klein.  Five days later, Bobby was in Los Angeles, CA, having breakfast with the iconic producer and jumping right into the recording process at the renowned Village Recorder which has hosted some of Bazini’s heroes (Bob Dylan, Otis Redding and Johnny Cash).  Where I Belong was recorded with a studio filled with some of Bazini’s favourite musicians including, Booker T (organ), Jack Ashford (percussion) and Jay Bellerose (drums).  What resulted is a collection of live-sounding Folk/Country and Soul songs that Bazini is excited to share. Announced yesterday, Bazini is confirmed to perform on the TD Stage (Place des Festivals) to thousands at the 35th annual Festival International de Jazz de Montreal on Friday, June 27. Bobby Bazini Backgrounder: In 2010, Bazini’s musical career climbed at a rapid pace with his very first single, “I Wonder”, which topped the Québec charts for nine straight weeks at #1 in the very same year, holding off challenges for chart supremacy by teen sensation Justin Bieber and fellow Quebecer Rufus Wainwright. Better in Time launched his career and secured the attention of contemporary music fans around the globe, while securing him two Juno® Award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year in 2011.
