22 SEPTEMBER 2023 (TORONTO, ON) —Today, 21-year-old singer-songwriter, Braden Bales, releases his brand-new single “HOSTAGE”. The track follows his debut EP NOMAD, and the incredible success of the Ontario native’s viral hit, “CHRONICALLY CAUTIOUS”, which has amassed over 27.1 million streams on Spotify alone, over 430 million total views and 38 million likes TikTok. “HOSTAGE” marks a new chapter for the rising musician, as he continues to elevate his sound and artistry. Braden proceeds to draw inspiration from first-hand experiences and emotions like stress and anxiety and the push to overcome it, with the goal of connecting with his audience on a deeply personal level. “HOSTAGE” will be included on Braden’s upcoming sophomore EP, which is set for release this November and the track is available now via Geffen Records/Universal Music Canada. Braden Bales says, "I wrote ‘HOSTAGE’ during a time in my life where nothing felt real. I just had a song go viral and I felt like people only liked me for the moment I was having instead of who I am, and I needed to detach from the pressure that came with those feelings. ‘HOSTAGE’ is about the fear of not living up to everyone else’s expectations of me and worrying about the loneliness I might feel after my ‘moment’ passed.”

About Braden Bales
Braden Bales writes thoughtful songs that deftly reflect the emotional twists and turns already he’s taken in his young life.
