See the Ric-A-Dam-Doo

It’s the flag of freedom in the air

Always glorious, victorious

Standing shoulder to shoulder to the end”

(Toronto, ON – 04 November 2013) -  On November 05, Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading Music Company will digitally release a specially commissioned song called ‘Ric-A-Dam-Doo’.  Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, to commemorate the 100th anniversary in 2014 of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), ‘Ric-A-Dam-Doo’ was composed at the request of the Regiment’s Colonel-in-Chief, The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson. Recorded in Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto, it is sung by the wives of the soldiers of PPCLI, featuring two Edmonton based singers, Brittany Hancock and Angela Larson.  In addition to Remembrance Day, the song will be played as the soldiers come home later this year and next from Afghanistan.  Proceeds will go to PPCLI Foundation, a charitable organization that provides funds, activities, and programs to support and care for Canadian military service and former military personnel in need. "With 'Ric-A-Dam-Doo', Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance have honoured the proud history and tradition of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and the 100 years that they have served Canada.  I am thrilled that the release of this song and video will lead us into 2014 and the many events we have planned to commemorate PPCLI’s 100th Anniversary.  It is an anthem that all Canadians can rally around, reminding us of the values that the Princess Patricia's and Canadian Forces fight for.  The song also underscores the responsibility that we have to take care of our soldiers when they come home, not just with our voices but with practical support - for they have sacrificed a great deal.  Bryan and Jim are putting action behind the words they penned for this song by donating all proceeds to support our Patricia's.  'Ric-A-Dam-Doo' is a song that the Princess Patricia's and Canadians will proudly sing for the next 100 years to come!"  - The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Colonel-in-Chief, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. The title Ric-A-Dam-Doo comes from the flag of the Regiment. Princess Patricia of Connaught, whom the Regiment was named after in 1914, was given the title of Colonel-in-Chief and designed and made by hand the crimson flag with a circular royal blue centre.   Inside the circle are gold initials VP, which stand for Victoria Patricia.  It has been in place since the First World War. Ric-a-Dam-Doo is believed to be Gaelic for "cloth of your mother".
