07 APRIL 2023 (TORONTO, ON) – Camino, the soulful, Mississippi-rooted singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who was introduced to the Def Jam multitudes in 2021 with his compelling “Burning Fire” single + video and BURNING FIRE EP, now returns with the brand new single “The One,” available at all formats. The official music video of “The One” premieres next Friday, April 14th.

“The One” marks the first new music in advance of Camino’s forthcoming debut album, SHADOWS & WHISPERS, arriving on May 19th. The album pre-save campaign also kicks off today.
Residing in Atlanta by way of Mississippi, Camino brings the emotion and soul of his broad vocal range into each record he creates. His unique blend of skyscraping soulful pop is inspired by a wide range of genres and artists, especially notable fellow Mississippians Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Elvis Presley, and Rick Ross.
The pain and joy of “Burning Fire,” for example, an homage to Camino’s beloved uncle and late aunt’s 65-year love affair, ignited with a steeple-size chorus that gave way to a propulsive beat and resounding keys, his voice stretching from confessional verses into a call-and-response with a full choir. ABOUT CAMINO:
You’re going to hear history, pain, joy, and so much more in the sky-scraping soulful pop of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Camino. Embracing music, he split his high school years between playing drums, learning guitar and bass, and rapping. Following an initial aspiration to rap, he moved to Atlanta and endured homelessness for nearly a year. When he couldn’t sleep at the studio where he worked, he slept on the bus bench outside. After orbiting the B.o.B camp, a performance on the Warped Tour at age 16 led to international icon Akon. Eventually that landed Camino a record deal but following a regime change, he found himself label-less and broke in Los Angeles. However, the songs he carried with him, his stock and trade, caught the attention of Def Jam and led to a deal in 2019. Camino’s unique sound was introduced on Burning Fire, his debut EP of 2021, ignited by the lead single “Burning Fire.” After a two-year break, he returns in 2023 with the single + video “The One,” and debut album, SHADOWS & WHISPERS. “When you listen to me,” he says, “it’s like I’m taking you to church. I grew up on Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, B.B., and Muddy mixed with R&B and hip-hop culture. I always felt the pain in music. If there’s no feeling, it’s just a song. If it speaks to what you’re going through, you can relate. I’m coming from a very real place.”
