“Nonso Amadi shapes the future of Afro-R&B.” – Afro Toronto

20 FEBRUARY 2026 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, one of Canada’s most influential Afro-R&B and Afrobeats artists, Nonso Amadi, returns with his brand new single “Greedy.”

Arriving just months after the release of his latest EP TO CRY A FLOOD, “Greedy” finds Amadi once again pushing his sound forward. Sonically warm and emotionally charged, the track is entirely self-produced, self-recorded, self-mixed, and self-mastered — a testament to his singular vision and hands-on artistry.

About the track, Amadi explains, “The production is really inspired by that mid-2010s Toronto era where dancehall and R&B were blending together. I was listening a lot to Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR at the time — records like ‘Controlla’ and ‘Work’ definitely shaped the sound. Being close to Toronto and loving the city, I leaned into heavy bass, melancholic chords, and that cold, moody feeling the city is known for. Lyrically, the song is about vulnerability and imbalance, giving someone everything and asking them not to hold back, only to realize they’re taking without giving the same energy back. It’s about that moment when you recognize someone’s being a little greedy with your heart.”

“Greedy” is out now via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, with international support from Def Jam Recordings (US), Polydor Records (UK), MCA (France), and Mavin Records (Africa). The release marks Amadi’s first new music of 2026.

In 2025, the globally celebrated artist released TO CRY A FLOOD — a body of work that created a world where listeners could dance and cry at the same time. Across six deeply personal tracks, Amadi explored heartbreak and grief through modern Afrobeats production, marking his most immersive step into the genre to date.

The EP’s lead single “PILLOW” became a Top 20 hit on Nigerian radio, while follow-up track “DIVE IN” debuted at #42 on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart.

A one-of-a-kind sonic globetrotter known for world-building and intentionality, Nonso Amadi has been recognized by Billboard, which named his song “Tonight” one of the Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time. With “Greedy,” Amadi continues to solidify his place as the defining voice of Afrobeats in Canada — and one of the genre’s most compelling global storytellers.
