SHOWS HER SUPPORT WITH AN EMOTIONALLY CHARGED SPEECH

20 APRIL 2018 (TORONTO, ON) – Yesterday, GRAMMY and JUNO Award-winner, Shania Twain made an appearance at the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt in Victoria, BC, to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of the members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Arriving by Sea King helicopter and Zodiac Boat to board the HMCS Ottawa, Shania was greeted by a crowd of 150 men and women from the Canadian Armed Forces and guests from abroad. With a powerful, emotionally charged speech, Shania went on to discuss why she wrote and released her song, “Soldier”, to honour the members and their service.

"My song ‘Soldier’ is dedicated to all of our Canadian Armed Forces deployed around the world, and their families at home. Your country is proud of you all. Stay well and come home safe,” shares Shania.

Following her public appearance, Shania was able to experience the Canadian Armed Forces with a base camp and submarine tour, as well as a brief familiarization with army vehicles and equipment lead by esteemed Lieutenants, Rear-Admirals, Commanders and Captains.

“Soldier” is one of the tracks included on Twain’s new album, NOW, released in 2017 via Mercury Nashville/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. In the coming months, Twain is set to embark on her “Shania: Now” world tour in support of the album, starting May 3, with a May 5 date set for Vancouver, BC.
