CHAZ FRENCH RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM TRUE COLORS

For Immediate Release:

ChazFrench

14 JULY 2017 (Toronto, ON) – Today, Chaz French, rising D.C. based artist releases his highly anticipated debut album True Colors, which is available at all digital retailers via ThreeSixEight/Motown/Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.  Stream or purchase True Colors here

The album is Chaz’s testimony revealed via his music highlighting his subjective experiences, successes, struggles, and relationships.  The project, transparent and relatable, tells a story that is true to Chaz but also many young black men and fathers in America.

Songs like “Amerikkka” and “Young World” (featuring a soliloquy from political activist Tony Lewis Jr.) feature political undertones cut with fiery bars, while tracks like “Start It Up,” and “So Are We” (featuring fellow DC rapper Innanet James and Phil Ade) demonstrates how Chaz and his peers continue to reconcile their upbringing and, at times, unfair environment. Not always so serious, Chaz switches to his cheekier disposition with songs like “Uncle Luke” and the softer, dreamier track “Situations,” balancing out the project.

The album features a slew of Chaz’s rapper and artist friends including Cassey Veggies, Curren$y, BJ The Chicago Kid and more.  True Colors is Chaz’s most honest and rawest project to date, a strong body of work destined to solidify Chaz as one of hip-hop’s most promising young artists leading the charge of D.C’s hip hop renaissance.

ABOUT CHAZ FRENCH
Transparent and often unapologetic about his past, Chaz French's lyrics to his vibey music are inspired by his own life experiences. He delivers his art in its purest form and people have gravitated to his honest lyrics throughout his career.  Born in D.C. and raised in Maryland, French describes himself as a survivor having experienced an almost fatal car accident and homelessness, often crediting those traumatic experiences to his tenaciousness. Chaz first burst on to the scene with the release of his Billboard charting EP, These Things Take Time. The project was featured on Apple’s “Mixtape of the Week” and landed him a feature with Interview Magazine. Now with the release of his Motown/Capitol debut album, True Colors, he is positioning himself as one of the most promising young artists in hip-hop with the album is his most honest and creative project to date. The first single off the track “Way Out,” premiered via Billboard earlier this year and has already amassed over 1 Billion streams on Spotify. Chaz’s enigmatic stage presence has also earned him festival routing/spot dates around the country including a successful run at SXSW in Austin this year, Rolling Loud, Broccoli Fest and a guest spot on Wale’s The Shine Tour. 2017 might be the biggest year yet for Chaz, but he’s only just getting started.
