Daniel Hope to Teach Online Violin Masterclass April 28
Deutsche Grammophon teams up with Play with a Pro for a pilot project on musical eLearning
22 APRIL 2016 - In a partnership with Play with a Pro Deutsche Grammophon (DG) will host an interactive online masterclass with its exclusive artist Daniel Hope. The event will take place on April 28th at 5 pm CET and can be accessed globally. In this innovative online format Daniel Hope will teach violin pieces, in particular from his newly released album “My tribute to Yehudi Menuhin”, and talk about his student-teacher relationship with his musical mentor. He will also answer questions live from participating students from around the world on all topics from practice routines to tips on becoming a professional musician.
DG has a long-standing tradition in providing educational content for children as well as introducing adults to classical music. In partnering with Play with a Pro for a pilot project, DG looks at expanding its educational activities to video tutorials and online instrumental lessons, as the market for musical education moves increasingly into the digital space.
The platform Play with a Pro offers one-to-one online lessons from already approaching 200 specially chosen teachers giving lessons across all instruments. In addition the portal offers top-quality video tutorials focused on individual classical music instruments. The setup is simple: A student requires merely a computer with a webcam and a microphone. No software is needed. Every lesson is recorded for the student to keep and re-use. The video tutorial contributors on Play with a Pro include renowned artists and professors such as Emanuel Pahud, Reinhold Friedrich, Sergio Azzolini and Charles Neidich, who have released recordings with DG or other classical Universal Music labels.
