DUKE PERFORMS AT VELD MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS SUNDAY AUGUST 2

(31 July 2015 – Toronto, ON) Duke Dumont is pleased to announce the launch of Blasé Boys Club EP series, the first installment of which will be released on October 2 with a preorder launching today via Virgin EMI/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Alongside this he unveiled new single ‘Ocean Drive’, which premiered last night by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. The fittingly titled Blasé Boys Club, also the moniker for Duke’s record label and collective of like-minded artists, will see a series of EP releases featuring brand new tracks from the super producer, chart topper and two-time Grammy nominee. “I’ve been thinking of adapting the release format from a traditional album for a while,” says Duke on the EP series. “The Blasé Boys Club series will be my outlet for music which would have previously been considered songs for my albums. Rather than the old format of the LP, the new way allows me the freedom to bring music to people quicker, and more regularly.” It’s a new stage in the incredible journey made by Dumont – albeit one has that has been quietly unassuming. With the ubiquitous nature of house music in today’s chart landscape, it’s easy to forget that when his breakthrough single ‘Need U 100%’ soared to number 1 in 2013, it became the first UK house track to do so in over a decade, reaching Gold certification, and opening a gap in the British music consciousness for deep house to prosper on a new scale. Dumont repeated that success 9 months later with his next single, ‘I Got U’, which topped the Canadian charts and received Gold certification. Following his two hits, ‘Won’t Look Back’ rose to number 2, whilst topping the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart; Dumont’s name as a top ten producer was cemented. Blasé Boys Club Part 1 kicks off with new single ‘Ocean Drive’, a slinky and majestic pop jam that conjures nocturnal visions of a lost scene from Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 film Drive, while boasting the kind of infectious and stirring melody that is Duke at his most quintessential. Next up is ‘Robert Talking’ which features legendary 80s house vocalist Robert Owens, a grooving 8-minute disco track is like Dumont’s very own homage to Daft Punk’s epic ‘Giorgio’. Elsewhere, ‘Melt’ backdrops yearningly soulful vocals with a pacific house groove, showcasing a more atmospheric facet of his production. The EP comes full circle with the aforementioned transatlantic smash and festival staple ‘Won’t Look Back’. The news comes hot on the heels of Duke’s recent slots at Coachella and Wireless festivals this year which saw him unveil an all new live show, stepping out from behind the decks and firmly into the limelight. An opportunity for Canadian fans to see it in action comes this weekend at Veld Music Festival on August 2. Blasé Boys Club Part 1 track list:
  1. Ocean Drive
