20 September 2017 (Toronto, ON) - After last night’s premiere with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, Emeli Sandé has today released “Starlight”, the first single from her upcoming EP, Kingdom Coming, which will be released November 3 via Virgin EMI Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. "'Starlight' is a true reflection of where I am at in my life at the moment - making music that truly makes me happy and falling in love with it again,” says Emeli. “Falling in love is such a magical feeling and I have tried my best to represent that in the words and music of this song. It came so naturally and I really hope it makes people feel good, uplifted and free.”
Emeli Sandé initially made her mark as a songwriter in the UK urban scene via acts such as Wiley, Wretch 32, and Chip, later becoming a highly sought-after writer for a wide array of international acts including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Katy Perry.
In 2012, the multi-instrumentalist released her critically acclaimed No. 1 debut record, Our Version Of Events. Not only was it the biggest selling album of the year and the second biggest selling album of 2013, it was also certified 7x Platinum, spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, and exceeded The Beatles' previous record by spending 63 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, selling over 4.6 million copies worldwide.
Following the huge success of Our Version Of Events, Emeli released her second studio album, Long Live The Angels, which became the biggest selling album from a UK female released in 2016. Emeli went on to win “Best Female” at the 2017 BRIT Awards, her fourth BRIT Award win to date. She was also appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for her services to music.
